To open a ticket You need to log into your Themeforest account and go to your “Downloads” page. Locate the the theme that you purchased in your “Downloads” list and click on the “License Certificate” link next to the download link. After you have downloaded the certificate you can open it in a text editor such as Notepad and copy the Item Purchase Code. Finally, use this Item Purchase Code when registering on our Support site. Thanks!
I offer limited support for theme customers. I only provide support for my themes and their core features and functionality. I cannot guarantee my themes will function with all third party plugins and server environments. If you plan on adding numerous plugins to this theme, please note I cannot facilitate support of any conflicts they might cause with the default functionality. The Food Recipe WordPress theme is presented as it is.
Welcome to Recipe Theme Documentation. In start you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. For information in regard to installing the WordPress platform, please see the WordPress Codex Installing WordPress
Please make sure to unzip the package that you downloaded from themeforest, Before uploading it to your WordPress installation as a theme. Because, it is not only a theme and contain many other related files & folders like Documentation, Import XML, License Text, PSDs, Theme Files and Theme Zip
When you are ready to install a theme, you must first upload the theme files and then activate the theme from Appearance > Themes. Theme files can be uploaded in two ways:
FTP Upload: Using your FTP program, upload the non-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server.
OR
WordPress Upload: Navigate to Appearance > Themes > Install Themes > Upload. click 'Choose File', and select the zipped theme folder. Hit “Install Now” and the theme will be uploaded and installed.
Once the theme is uploaded, you need to activate it. Go to Appearance > Themes and activate your chosen theme.
Note:The Theme zip name is food-recipe.zip. which you will find in the downloaded package from themeforest
It is better to use child theme and if you need to modify anything you modify in child theme only. This way you can easily update your parent theme when new update becomes available on themeforest. You can read more about child theme from here.
To install child theme for Food Recipe, you need to upload the food-recipes-child.zip and activate it the same way you uploaded food-recipe.zip as guided above.

To set up the homepage you must create a new page, you can do so by navigating to Pages > Add New. You can give this page a title yet you do not have to include any content. Select the “Home” template from the Page Attributes section and click “Publish”.
Once you have created your new page which uses the “home” page template, navigate to Settings > Reading and configure the “Front Page Displays” setting. Select the static page option and choose the page you just created as your front page.
Your homepage is now created and can be configured through the theme options.
To configure homepage from theme options you have to click Appearance > Theme Options. Here you can see first tab Named Home Page on the left column and its options on right side. First Two options are given below.
After Selecting Logo for the website and favicon, you can see an option for selecting slider type for your homepage. There are 5 types of sliders given in Food Recipes Theme. You can see setting up process for each slider in videos give below.
For sliders you need recipe post id to attach slides/image with related recipes. So, this image below will guide you from where you can get Recipe ID to use in sliders.
Under Sliders section you can see four fields for homepage hot recipes where you can select recipes to show in Whats Hot section. All of your recipes will be listed in these fields.
To set up the blog, you must create a new page, you can do so by navigating to Pages > Add New. You can give this page a title of “blog” yet you do not have to include any content. Click “Publish”.
Once you have created your new page, navigate to Settings > Reading and configure the “Front Page Displays” setting. Select the static page option and choose the page you just created as your posts page. Your blog index is now created and can be viewed by visiting the page you just published.
Food Recipe Theme has a contact page template and few options in theme options panel to help you setup a contact page like the one you can see here.

you can add simple text widgets in contact page sidebar to display your office address information as displayed in image below.
Recipes Listing Page will be a page like the blog page for your blog posts. Recipes Listing page will list all the recipes with pagination.
To setup recipe submit page you need to create a new page with Submit Recipe page template.
Also make sure that you have allowed Membership from General Settings. So, that anyone can register and submit a recipe.
The theme comes packed with features that control the layout and extend the functionality of WordPress. This section will document those features and how to use them successfully.
The theme comes with easy to use theme options panel. You can access it by navigating to Appearance > Theme Options. The theme options are conveniently spread over a number of vertical tabs and each tab contains the options that relates to a particular area of the theme.
Food Recipe has a custom post type named Recipe. You can manage your recipes and can add detailed information about it.
Adding recipe is same process as adding a post but with some aditional information. Click on the Recipes > Add New in left side menu of wordpress admin panel. You have to give your recipe title and little detail about it in editor. You can use all shortcodes in the editor. If you are using Ingredients and Methods given under this page then you have to put shortcode of each one here. '[ingredients]' to show all Ingredients and '[method]' to show all method steps you have entered or you will enter later on.
Under content editor area you can see a Recipe Video box. From here you can select rather your recipe can have a video instead of featured image or not. If you enable the video then you have to put its code and select video service you are using.
On the right side of this page you can tag your recipe to make it more friendly for local search and for search engines that your recipe is related to which type etc. You also can select or assign a type for your recipe in Recipe Type metabox. You can assign a Cuisine to your recipe using Cuisines metabox.
You can assign Courses, Ingredients and Skill Level needed for your recipe. Selecting ingredients here is different than giving these again in your recipe details. Adding ingredients here will make your recipe searchable by local search and search engines according to ingredients used.
Assign your a post thumbnail to show it in recipe listing and on single page.
Setting featured image
Under post text editor you can see Recipe Information metabox. In this box you can give details for your recipe. At the start you can see a Recipe Video box. From here you can select rather your recipe can have a video instead or not. If you enable the video by clicking yes then you have to put its embed code in the given box under it. Note: Your recipe will have video on featured image area instead of featured image. Also you have to use Recipe Template with sidebar instead of full width recipe template from theme options.
If you are not using video for your recipe then you can add more images for this recipe to show in gallery on single page. also you can add more information like Yield, Servings, preparation time, Cook time and Nutritional Information. You also can add ingredients as many as you want using '+' sign on the right side. Same with method steps. You can add recipe details step by step here using '+' sign.
Note: you have to add shortcodes for Ingredients and Methods in content area to show them. [ingredients] to list your Ingredients and [method] to show your method steps for recipe.
Food Recipe Theme has two styles for you to display your recipe. You can choose a style from Appearance > Theme Options > Other Options > Select Single Recipe Template Type. One type is full width where you can see all images about recipe in accordion and all other information in full wide area without sidebar. Other one is to have a sidebar and put some more widgets for you in it.
The theme comes with 12 custom widgets that can be used to configure how your site displays content - the widgets can be found under Appearance > Widgets. Detail about every widget is given below.
This widget is for home page widgetized area and sidebars. You can make three tabs in it and select different types of listings for your recipes.
There are two Custom Ad Widgets in this theme. One is for homepage and other one is for sidebar. Both can be easily identified by their names in widgets section. These both widgets have specified the size of image and have link fields for image path URL and Target URL where you want user to go.
This widget is to display archive links in your sidebar or footer columns area. You can display archives Daily, Weekly, Monthly or yearly bases.
Recipe Types widget is to list all recipe types with links to their related archive pages.
New and Events Widget have latest posts from your blog. You can use this widget in sidebar, footer columns and also in homepage bottom area.
Weekly Special Recipe Widget have one special recipe to show. You can use this widget in sidebar, footer columns and homepage bottom area. To select that specific recipe you have to go in Appearance > Theme Options > Other Options and then select weekly special recipe from the given list.
Custom Twitter Widget is to show your latest tweets from your twitter account. You can specify twitter username and number of tweets to show and let people know what you are sharing on twitter.
Recent Recipes Widget shows latest recipes from your recipe post type. You can select number of items to show from this widget options.
There are two slider widgets for sidebar. You can choose between them to slide your recipes by recipe type or by cuisine.
The theme comes pre-packed with a number of short codes allowing you to add styled content to your site with little effort.
Columns shortcode is easy way to make columns in your page or post. All short codes related to columns and usage of these codes is mentioned below:

We have two types of special headings. Usage is mentioned below:

making border true will display a border line under the heading.
We have simple blockquote with different options. Usage is given below:

you can mention its size in width attribute and its alignment in align attribute. align attribute support two values right / left. Specifying the align attribute will make other contents to float around it.
Note: Giving no attribute at all will give you normal 100% wide blockquote.
Step heading is to display steps in a recipe description. So, You can mention your recipe steps by using this recipe.

Normal horizontal line is simple and properly stylized but if you want your horizontal line (<hr />) fatter than that, use this shortcode.

On Single Recipe page you are required to use [ingredients] shortcode to display the ingredients added in metaboxes.
There are two variations of this shortcode. The default title is "Ingredients" if you want to specify your own title you can specify it using title attribute as given in second variation.

Typography and Columns
The theme comes with a number of in built custom page templates. These templates can be used on individual pages to change the display or functionality.
Homepage template is well elaborated in stylizing homepage portion above. It has a slider, some hot recipes area and a widgetized area for some specific widgets and an advertisement widget.
Recipes Listing Template is used to make a recipe listing page where you can list all recipes. With Pagination. Like a blog page for blog posts.
Contact page template is used to show your contact information, a map and fully functional AJAX Based contact form.
Default Template is a page with sidebar. Full Width Page Template is for those pages on which you want no sidebar.
Recipe Submit page template provides the front end interface for users to submit recipes. After version 2.0 it is taking all ingredients and method steps from this template. It allows user to sign up and submit recipe as draft and left for review from admin.
Each uploaded image in WordPress will be intelligently croped in different sized thumbnails. Image sizes are given below.
